New MFVA Novices

Monday, August 30th, 2010

On August 2nd, the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Angels, our community held its annual Profession and Investiture ceremonies.  Brs. Tarcisius, Paschal, and Matthew renewed their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience for another year.  God-willing, these friars will one day profess perpetual vows.

Our Postulants, Anthony and Michael, were advanced to the Novitiate, invested with their habits, and they received new names.  There was a great deal of excitement and anticipation around the friary as the friars speculated about what their religious names would be.  The announcement was proclaimed at the conclusion of the Rite of Investiture by Fr. Anthony, “Postulate Anthony will now be known as Br. Justin Mary of Our Lady of Charity and Postulate Michael as Br. Paul Mary of St. Joseph the Protector.”

A reception was held after the ceremony at the House of Studies where all, including families of the friars, could congratulate the new novices and professed friars.  For the next year, the novices will prepare to make their first profession of vows at Ephesus House in Hanceville under the direction of our newly-appointed Novice Master-Fr. Miguel and his assistant Br. Bernard.
