In preparation for the long awaited translation of the Roman Missal, the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word sponsored a one-day workshop on implementation of the new missal on Monday March 7, 2011.

The workshop was given by Rev. Douglas Martis, PHD., S.T.D. and Dennis R. Mcnamara M.ARCH. H., PHD, members of the Liturgical Institute of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake.

Session topics were on the Word Became Flesh, Maturing in the Word, Liturgy of the Word, and Tips for Catechesis.

In addition to the friars, attendees included representatives from EWTN, the National Catholic Register, the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word, and the Knights of the Holy Eucharist.

The changes to the revised Roman Missal include updated translations for prayers, responses, and acclamations at Mass.  Also, included are observances for recently canonized saints, added prefaces for the Eucharistic prayers and votive Masses and Masses for various needs and occasions (USCCB).

Implementation for the Roman Missal in the United States goes into effect on November 27, 2011.
