San Damiano Retreat

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Our community just held its second San Damiano vocation retreat this summer from July 8 to 11. Vocation visitors were invited to come and experience the life of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word. Our vocation director Br. Patrick did an excellent job in organizing and directing the retreat as well as in delivering two talks. We had a great turnout of six visitors in attendance.

During the retreat, our vocation visitors had the opportunity to join us in our regular schedule of prayer which includes the Mass, the rosary, holy hour, the Office of Readings, and Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Night Prayer. In addition, they experienced the work and mission of our community in proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the world, with a particular aim of bringing back the lost sheep into the heart of the Church, using the modern means of social communication. They even participated in a little fraternal recreation with the friars. Finally, our visitors had the benefit of receiving individual direction and guidance from our Community Servant Fr. Anthony and from Br. Patrick.
