On August 14th, 2010, with praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God, Brs. Pio and John Paul professed Perpetual Vows at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at EWTN.
Bishop Robert Baker of the diocese of Birmingham, Alabama was the celebrant, and there were several visiting concelebrants including Fr. Brian Van Hove, SJ and Fr. Frederick Miller, STD (professor at Mount St. Mary’s seminary).
The families of the newly-professed friars were present for this solemn occasion. Br. Pio will be a permanent brother while Br. John Paul is studying to be a priest.
Thanks to the hard work and coordination of Adele Gilbert, a reception was held at the House of Studies following the Mass. In the evening, an honorary dinner was held for Brs. Pio and John Paul at the reception hall of St. Francis Xavier parish in Birmingham, Alabama. The newly-professed brothers delivered speeches at the conclusion of the meal in order to give a brief explanation of religious life, and to thank their families and everyone who supported them in their vocations.
Our community is now blessed to have eleven Perpetually-Professed friars.
